In recent times, the group has managed to produce four critically acclaimed studio albums, indicating how the group is one of the most talented in today’s metalcore genre. Currently, LANDMVRKS is signed to the independent record label Arising Empire, and the group remains popular among fans from around the world. With more and more fans all around the world, LANDMVRKS continues to innovate through music.

History

It should be noted that the band started its activity in 2014, under the name “Coldsight.” The founders were Florent Salfati and Nicolas Soriano. Salfati, who initially was intended to play guitar in the group, was simultaneously the creator of the band named Hate in Front. Since finding an appropriate vocalist turned out to be rather problematic, Salfati took on the role of vocalist himself. At that point, the formation of the band was almost over as it already consisted of Rudy Purkart (bassist) and Thomas Lebreton (guitarist). After the latter took the role of the vocalist, the second guitarist became Nicolas Exposito, and the band was renamed into “Landmarks.”

Their band name was updated to Landmvrks in 2015.

They released their first self-produced album titled Hollow on May 10, 2016. This was after having created singles in their early years of existence. They also appeared for the first time at Hellfest, where the performance was captured and released on an EP titled Live at Hellfest.

The band would then sign their contract with German record label Arising Empire in 2018, where they would then release their second studio album Fantasy on May 2, 2018. On January 7, 2019, it was reported that Nicolas Soriano of drummer and founding member position had quit the band.

In 2019, the band toured in Europe with Any Given Day, while in Japan, they toured as an opening act for Polaris. In 2020, the group planned a European tour but canceled it due to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 outbreak that caused the global COVID-19 pandemic.

On October 28, 2021, the group released its third album, entitled Lost in the Waves. The album debuted on the charts in Germany and ranked 17th among albums.[7] On March 18, 2022, the band released the album Lost in the Waves (The Complete Edition), which included live versions of the band’s songs along with three new tracks with guest appearances from the following artists: Andrew Dijorio (Drew York) from Stray From The Path, Bertrand Poncet from Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! and Anthony Diliberto of Resolve.

In the fall of 2022, the group started touring in the USA with Miss May I.

On April 25, 2025, the band released the fourth studio album, entitled The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been.

Musical style

As explained by the reviewer Nadine Schmidt at Metal.de, Hundredth, together with past albums by Architects, was employed for inspiration in the band’s debut record Hollow with djent elements being added. There are references made to bands like Bring Me the Horizon, Architects, and A Day to Remember in the album Fantasy, together with those of nu metal. In the third album Lost in the Waves, Landmvrks combine metalcore, hardcore punk and pop-influenced punk rock music with isolated hip-hop elements.

The screams of vocalist Florent Salfati can be compared to other hard rock vocalists like Andrew Neufeld from Comeback Kid and Bryan Garris of Knocked Loose. On the album Lost in the Waves, there have been comparisons made that the vocals of Salfati are somewhat similar to those of Chester Bennington from Linkin Park along with deathcore growls.
